At Brisbane Christian College, we aspire to provide our children with the best possible education, engaging sports, plus opportunities in music and co-curricular activities. However, amongst these essential factors, the heart of the College remains the desire to see our children come into a loving relationship with their heavenly Father. Below is an excerpt from our Primary College Chaplain, Chappie Jess, about the recent Primary Encounter Chapel.
“In the Lower Primary Chapel, it was beautiful seeing kids praying over each other and then parents coming to pray and many crying as they prayed over their children. I’ve had many reports of pictures and words God has given children. One class drew pictures afterwards, another continued worshipping, and others reflected on what they felt in God’s presence—so much love, joy and peace. It was wonderful to see our Prep – Year 2 children engaging in this space for their first Encounter Chapel.
In our Upper Primary Chapel, we sang ‘One Thing Remains’ which I wanted to keep short, but it ended up going for nearly 10 minutes as kids just led the way and kept singing and clapping “Your love never fails, it never gives up, it never runs out on me.” It felt like such a powerful declaration that couldn’t be stopped until it was planted in some of our kids’ hearts.
I saw in this moment God putting His blueprint on some of our children who just needed to know that their Dad in heaven loves them – unconditionally, extravagantly and without fail. We had children crying and not knowing why as they experienced the touch of the Holy Spirit. After Lucas gave his personal testimony, we had this chain reaction of kids sharing around them the miracles He has done in their family as well, which is just so amazing!”
These moments have an eternal impact on the lives of our children. Our College Values begin with ‘Honour Jesus Christ,” which was certainly evident at the Primary Encounter Chapel.
