Prep
We desire to help our students develop their highest possible academic potential as well as discover and fully develop their God-given gifts, guiding them to take significant steps into the destiny God has prepared for them.
Prep is where your child will build a foundation for the formal learning years at Brisbane Christian College; continuing their education while on campus with Primary School students from Year 1 to Year 5.
Children can grow in confidence knowing they are being nurtured by the same teaching team for a two-year rotation from Prep to Year 7. This enables our teachers to develop strong relationships with our families, offering stability and momentum in their academic and social development.

Curriculum
The goal of our Prep teachers is to create a variety of fun and engaging learning experiences that cater for the differing personalities, learning styles and abilities in our classes. At Brisbane Christian College, we aspire to excellence in all areas of our teaching and we work hard to develop an innovative program that covers all areas of the Australian Curriculum.
Subjects
All students in Prep learn the foundations of their further studies in Primary School by learning Mathematics, English, Integrated Studies, Christian Studies, Health & PE, Sport and Chinese.
Mathematics
An innovative approach for teaching Mathematics that significantly increased students’ understanding. It introduces hands-on learning techniques to practically enable students to grasp fundamental mathematical concepts of the Australian Curriculum.
Literacy
The Literacy Collective is a high-impact program that uses emoji symbols and research-based pedagogy to assist in the foundational development of phonological awareness. The use of this program provides our students with the skills to break down and create words easily and develops their confidence in reading and writing.
Integrated Studies
The core subjects of our Integrated Studies program are Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS), Science, English, Technologies, and The Arts. Integrated Studies inspires students’ interest in an exciting topic and then leverages the children’s interest on that topic for learning opportunities across multiple subjects.
Sport
In Prep, students have the opportunity to participate in a Gymnastics program each week during the first semester. They also participate in swimming lessons during Term 4. During the year, the Prep students also participate in the College’s Cross-Country and Primary Athletics Carnivals. It is expected that all students participate in these activities.
Additional Activities
Library
Weekly Library lessons and borrowing books from the College Library is an exciting experience for each child. We know that reading with our children helps develop a love of books and reading and encourages children to investigate print and develop an understanding of more complex language patterns.
Assemblies
Assemblies at Brisbane Christian College are not just about announcements but about celebrating our students’ achievements and unique abilities each week.
Christian Studies and Chapel Services
In Prep, our children learn that their Heavenly Father loves, protects, and cares for them and they begin to understand the life and ministry of Jesus, God’s Son. This learning is developed through our devotional and prayer times each morning, in-class discussions, Christian Studies lessons and our weekly Chapel services.
House Teams
Each child is assigned a house team that they will represent throughout their schooling journey. This house will be for sporting events as well as spiritual development and pastoral care.
Clubs & Extra-Curricular
Primary Musical
The Primary Musical is held on a yearly basis and involves all children from Pre-Prep to Year 5. Each child has the opportunity to perform as a part of a choir or if they would like they can audition for solo singing and/ or acting parts. The musical is one of the biggest and most exciting events in the Primary calendar and always has a Christian theme that children and families can learn from.
Chess Club
We partner with Chess Mates to provide fun Chess lessons for children. Weekly lessons help students improve creativity, memory, concentration, planning skills, problem solving and teamwork.
Tennis Lessons
We partner with Z Tennis to provide holiday tennis clinics as well as after school lessons on our Middle and Secondary Campus. This is a great opportunity for students to further their tennis skills and learn new ones.
Speak Up Classes
Speak Up helps students to build confidence in speech and drama for students of all ages. The highly trained staff provide a safe environment for our students to develop tone, voice, clarity and other skills in speaking and acting.
